Experiencing Nature and Heritage: UNESCO Penang Hill Visit for HCU Exchange Students

As part of the USM–HCU Student Exchange Programme, students visited Penang Hill, a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, under the guidance of Dr. Yang Kok Lee.

The visit included a scenic funicular ride to the top of Penang Hill, offering students panoramic views of Penang and insights into the region’s ecological and cultural significance. At the summit, students participated in interactive activities focused on environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable tourism practices.

This experiential learning activity fostered cross-cultural understanding, appreciation for natural heritage, and engagement with sustainability concepts, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
