CPR USM Welcomes UNILA Students for Regional Policy Research Exposure

The Centre for Policy Research (CPR), Universiti Sains Malaysia, hosted seven students from Universitas Lampung (UNILA), Indonesia for an internship program at CPR. The program was conducted over a period of 14 days, from 15 September 2025 to 28 September 2025.
At the student reception ceremony, UNILA was represented by Mr. Indra Jaya Wiranata, Lecturer, Department of International Relations, while CPR was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azeem Fazwan Ahmad Farouk, Director of CPR.
The internship program was designed to achieve the following objectives:
Exposure to Policy Research
Provide students with an understanding of public policy research methods, including data collection, analysis of social, economic, and political issues, and translation of findings into policy recommendations.
Introduce students to ongoing research projects conducted by CPR as a national and regional policy reference centre.
Development of Analytical Skills
Equip students with the ability to apply qualitative and quantitative methods in assessing policy issues.
Enhance critical thinking, research reporting, and the ability to produce findings that contribute to policymaking.
Offer practical experience in teamwork, small-scale project management, and presentation of analytical outcomes.
International Learning Experience
Provide exposure to the academic environment and work culture at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Foster academic networking between UNILA students and USM researchers, staff, and students within the context of regional cooperation.
Cultivate cross-cultural understanding through academic interactions and participation in extracurricular activities.
