5th Global Futures Forum with Nobel Peace Prize Recipient 2024
Theme: “Seeking a Human Society Free of Nuclear Weapons and War”
The forum underscored the urgent global call for peace and nuclear disarmament, highlighting the moral and humanitarian imperatives behind the movement to eliminate nuclear weapons. Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak emphasized humanity’s shared duty to cultivate peace through education and ethical leadership. Jiro Hamasumi, the son of an atomic bomb survivor, delivered a poignant testimony on the enduring suffering caused by nuclear warfare and the importance of intergenerational remembrance in nurturing a culture of peace. The session, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Nurhaizal Azam from Hiroshima City University, reinforced the role of empathy, dialogue, and global partnerships in realizing a sustainable and war-free future.
