The 11th Forum on Crime and Policing in Malaysia, themed “Contemporary Issues and Challenges on Drug Use in Malaysia,” brought together academics, policymakers, enforcement officers, community leaders, and the public to discuss effective strategies in tackling drug abuse. Chaired by Dato’ Dr. P. Sundramoorthy, the Forum highlighted the limitations of treating drug use solely as a criminal act and stressed the importance of more holistic, research-based approaches. Distinguished keynote speakers included Professor Dr. Vicknasingam Kasinather (USM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azeem Fazwan Ahmad Farouk (USM), Dato’ Seri (Dr) Haji Rafique Karim, and Mr. Palani Narayanan, with the event also graced by His Excellency Mr. Psusust Wongsurawat, Royal Thai Consul-General in Penang. The Forum reaffirmed the nation’s collective commitment to addressing drug use through dialogue, collaboration, and innovative policy solutions.
