Hands-on Introduction to Logit/Probit Models with STATA workshop
The Hands-on Introduction to Logit/Probit Models with STATA workshop successfully attracted 20 participants, comprising academicians and PhD candidates from various local universities. Through a hands-on and interactive format, participants strengthened their ability to apply logit/probit models, interpret empirical results, and conduct rigorous econometric analysis relevant to academic research. Active engagement during both face-to-face and online sessions demonstrated strong learning outcomes and effective knowledge transfer.
For USM, the workshop enhanced its role as a regional centre for advanced econometric training, fostering inter-university collaboration and strengthening academic networks. The hybrid delivery mode extended USM’s outreach beyond campus while reinforcing its reputation for methodological excellence, research leadership, and support for postgraduate training. The programme also contributed directly to improving research quality, supervisory capacity, and scholarly productivity among participants affiliated with USM and partner institutions.
The workshop aligns primarily with SDG 4: Quality Education by supporting lifelong learning and advanced research skills development. It also contributes indirectly to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by enhancing the empirical and analytical capacity essential for evidence-based research, policy evaluation, and informed institutional decision-making.
