Dr. Illisriyani Ismail was nominated by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to participate in the AI & Sustainability in Aquaculture Workshop held in Tainan, Taiwan, from 3–6 June 2025, organised by the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), Japan. She joined the Malaysian delegation alongside Mr. Jeffrey, Secretary General of the Malaysia Marine Fish Farmer Association.

The workshop highlighted regional experiences in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and strengthening governance to advance sustainable aquaculture. Insights shared by Asian countries underscored how digital innovation can improve resource efficiency, enhance resilience, and support environmentally responsible aquaculture practices.

This initiative directly contributes to Malaysia’s progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), by promoting sustainable food systems and strengthening blue economy strategies.
