1st International Nusantara School of Thought Scholars Network Workshop

The 1st International Nusantara School of Thought Scholars Network Workshop was successfully conducted in a hybrid format (onsite–online) on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at the Delima Room, Centre for Policy Research (CPR), Universiti Sains Malaysia. The workshop served as an academic platform to strengthen scholarly networks and to advance discourse on Nusantara schools of thought within contemporary social, cultural, and policy studies.

The presentation session featured presenters from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, namely Muhammad Fajhriyadi Hastira, Nabila Maulida Ammar, Fiya Ainur Rohmatika, and Farikha ’Ulya Firdausi. The presentations addressed a range of issues related to Nusantara intellectual traditions and their relevance to societal understanding and knowledge development. The programme was further enriched by Dr. Muchamad Sholakhuddin Al Fajri (Universitas Airlangga) as Guest Speaker and Discussant, who provided scholarly commentary, critical insights, and constructive recommendations on the papers presented. The session was moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Reevany Bustami (Universiti Sains Malaysia).

Overall, the workshop successfully achieved its objectives by fostering academic exchange, encouraging cross-institutional and cross-border dialogue, and contributing to the advancement of scholarship in the field of Nusantara thought.
